HOLY oil

Priestly oil, or holy anointing oil, is a product we were afraid to recreate. Although we can follow the process of preparing the holy oil step by step in the pages of Holy Scripture, it’s not easy. Although the recipe for the holy anointing oil was dictated to Moses by God Himself, He specified that this oil should not be made or used independently. Firstly, it was intended to be a holy anointing oil, intended exclusively for sacred purposes. Secondly, its composition contained rather unusual substances, considering the religious context.

One of the strangest ingredients of anointing oil, which we also made sure to test, is hemp oil. It’s not at all certain that the biblical authors meant hemp oil with a psychoactive substance. However, we can’t rule out such an interpretation. However, the Millennium Bible translates the same ingredient as kalamus – fragrant reed. Of course, we are not certain about the accuracy of the translation and the classification of this plant species. However, we do know that kalamus oil was recently added to the list of prohibited ethers. Why? It has too high a concentration of carcinogenic substances. Therefore, it seems unlikely that God included it as an ingredient in the holy priestly oil to anoint prophets, kings, and priests chosen for their ministry.

The most distinctive component of the anointing oil is the scent of cinnamon. This distinctive aroma is due to the presence of cassia and cassia in the recipe. The sweetness and simultaneous sharpness of cinnamon are also meant to speak to us about the Word of God. Not only through taste or the sense of smell.
